[29 Jul 2009|01:20am]
21st birthday was great!

Went downtown with Sean, Heather, and her beau Brandon.

Went to Mad Dogs and had a shock top. yummy yummy beer.
Went to Waxy O'Conner's. Had a weak-ass margarita and a bottle of dos equis.
It was really hot in Waxy's. Don't think they had air conditioning.

Not the birthday I had expected, but I will have a better celebration this weekend!!!

I'm finally done moving out of my house and into the apartment!! I'm glad because I'll have to deal with my mom a lot less now.

I got two scholarships:
One from UTSA for $3,000 a year &
One from UUMC for $4,000!
Combine those with my librarian scholarship and I have
$7,500.00 for college.

This mean my mom isn't paying for my tuition anymore which means she can't hang shit over my head.
Thank God!

Sean and I still haven't picked a date for the wedding, but we're thinking March or April.

We just got internet and tv service yesterday with U-verse!! We didn't have either before, so this is really awesome. I like having the internet. :)

Brandon, my roommate/soon to be brother-in-law joined the army, which is sorta sad and happy at the same time.
He leaves on July 20 for basic and then he's going to live in South Carolina for 6 months.
But after that he'll be in the reserve stationed at Fort Sam Houston, so all-in-all it's a good situation.

I hope my summer will be fun and full of adventure. YAY LIFE!

Staph is the shortened name for Staphylococcus (pronounced: staf-uh-low-kah-kus), a type of bacteria.
These bacteria can live harmlessly on many skin surfaces, especially around the nose.
But when the skin is punctured or broken for any reason, staph bacteria can enter the wound and cause an infection.

So, yes, I have a staph infection in my nose.
I broke the skin when I rubbed my nose raw because of my cold.
I have a huge abscess in my left nostril.
I'm on 2 antibiotics, an antibiotic cream, and vicodin.
I just took 2 vicodin so I'm going to sleep for a while.

Other than that, life basically sucks.
Money is in the shitter.
I am so sick of things going wrong...

Music in Civilization exam went pretty well. I figure either a high C or a B. (which is really good for this class. his exams are like impossible.)

Voice Jury was fucking terrible. I had 5 pieces...and the first one that they picked for me to sing was the only one I didn't have memorized...so I made up words for at least 90% of the song. At least it's easy to do that in French. I thought I was going to faint when Doc called out "Berlioz..."

Well, all of that's said and done. It's a hair flip, it's a whatever.

I've made $103.02 selling video games online, and that's only after 2 days! Hopefully people will keep buying them. Selling stuff works out sometimes. =)

We showed the house to 3 families today. I mean, I hope someone buys the house, but it's weird to have people I don't know walking around in my house, in my room, in my closet...I guess I'll just have to get used to it. I've been a neat freak lately. I don't have a choice, but it feels nice anyway.

2 more exams! Drugs and Society on Friday and Pedagogy on Monday.

Chrissy and I are going to learn spanish/mexican. People in San Antonio don't speak spanish exactly so we have to figure out how to learn the dialect most spoken around here, which I guess would be considered "Tex-Mex"

Bills suck. Period.

[ music | something sean put on my computer... ]

I have an A in choral literature, so I don't have to take the final!!!!

I only have 3 finals plus my voice jury, which is a level change jury so I have to sing all my songs from this semester. All but one are memorized. Goddamn French strophic aria.

Next year I am taking
Concert Music
Music in Civilization 2
Pedegogy 2
Concert Choir
Jazz Choir
Intro to Learning (FINALLY)
Music Studies 2
and some other core class...
That puts me at either 17 or 18 hours! eeeshhh. I wanted to take Conducting 2, but it's the same time as Intro to Learning, so I can't. I'll have to wait another year to take it. boo.

Got back from Wyoming today!!

It was an amazing trip.
I got to meet a lot of Sean's family and they are all awesome.
and they think I'm awesome, which is nice. =)

I SAW IT SNOW!
a lot, actually.
It snowed so much that they closed down I-25 pretty much right after we drove on it. haha, we got lucky there.

School's almost over, hoorah!

My house is going on the market this week.
I'm really emotional about it, though.
It's sad to see my house go, but I'm growing up and this is just a part of it.

Life is beautiful!

[ music | Sevendust ]

Instead of going to class today I'm going to clean the house and pack for Wyoming.

Leaving for Wyoming tomorrow!
We're driving straight through...that should be interesting.
We have the laptop with a DVD player, so that should keep us entertained
I'm gonna try to finish this book I have to read and summarize for civ,
but I'm going to be drugged up on dramamine the whole time, so we'll see.

My poor boyfriend's upper-lip swelled up like crazy on Sunday night and it hasn't gone down yet.
He went to the doctor this morning to figure out what's happening.
They don't know why it's so swollen, but they wanted to cut it open and drain the fluid.
Then they changed their mind and just decided to put him on 2 different antibiotics.
He has to put a hot towel on his face every few hours, which will hopefully bring all the fluid to the surface.
So he has to go back tomorrow and see if they want to cut it open or not.
It's just bad timing with the trip. I hope the swelling goes down by Thursday.

I GET TO SEE MY SISTER TONIGHT! I'm really excited!!

Life is changing.

Sometimes it's scary, but I just need to realize that I'm growing.
Moving towards something that's going to be well worth it.

The semester's coming to a close.
I am so sick of exam after exam after exam.
7 classes. It sucks.

I don't like working at my new HEB.
I love shopping there, though.
If you're in San Antonio you should stop by the Alon Market HEB on Wurzbach and NW Military.
It's beautiful!

I'm in love.
Sometimes he drives me crazy.
Most of the time he makes me feel like I'm the coolest, most beautiful girl in the whole world.
It's a nice feeling.

I'm really glad our relationship is working out.
I had my doubts at first.
"Is this what I really want?"
"Can I ever let myself be happy with him?"
Well, I got over all that, after a while.
Sean Daniel Gilleland is the greatest. =)
(if you're reading this, babe, thank you for sticking it out with me and being patient with me.)

I really need to go to sleep.
I think this is how most of my entries end. lol

g'nite/g'morning/d'day
=)

I should be asleep, but I'm not.

This is funny:

A young family moved into a house, next to a vacant lot. One day, a construction crew began to build a house on the empty lot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in the goings-on and spent much of each day observing the workers. Eventually the construction crew, all of them 'gems-in-the-rough,' more or less, adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her during coffee and lunch breaks and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel
important. At the end of the first week, they even presented her with a pay envelope containing ten dollars. The little girl took this home to her mother who suggested that she take her ten dollars 'pay' she'd received to the bank the next day to start a savings account. When the girl and her mom got to the bank, the teller was equally impressed and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own pay check at such a young age. The little girl proudly replied, 'I worked last week with a real construction crew building the new house next door to us.' 'Oh my goodness gracious,' said the teller, 'and will you be working on the house again this week, too?' The little girl replied, 'I will, if those a__holes at Home Depot ever deliver the f _ ckin' sheet rock.' Kind of brings a tear to the eye - doesn't it?

Life Update [10 Sep 2008|12:29am]
[ mood | loved ]
[ music | The song about moons from my Bernstein songset. ]

HAY YOU GUYS. =P

Recent developments in my life are:

My brother Andy and Lena are getting married on September 28th in Austin. I'm the maid of honor!! I need to get my mom to take me dress shopping. I'm really excited.

This semester is going well so far. Haven't skipped any classes and I've gotten good grades on all the assignments thus far. ^_^

Sean is still fantastic. I love him so much. We had our first big fight a few weekends ago. It was hard to yell at him, but it was totally necessary. We both cried, but it was so much better after we fought.

Hurricane Ike is coming. We're going to be getting a shit load of rain and some pretty intense wind. I'm really excited about it.

I love my cat so much! He's no longer a kitten. We just call him mister kitty. He lives at Sean's apartment, so I have to go over there every day to feed him and give him water and clean his litter box out. He loves to cuddle and he has the LOUDEST purr ever. I need to put some pictures on here. I will do that soon. =)

Oh, and my hair is getting long again!

Other than that, just the usual stuff. Money is difficult to come by, I need to lose some weight (lost 5 lbs, though!), and my room's a mess.

Got to wake up early tomorrow, so I'm out. Love you all!!

Classes:

Introduction to Geography - with total hippie prof. looks like a pretty easy class

Music in Civilization - kind of like music appreciation, only it's going to rape me.

Pedegogy - studying the voice/observing voice lessons. Should be fun!

Choir - I'm the librarian! yay!!

Choral Literature - Like music appreciation, only just choral music.

Voice/Voice Studio Seminar - Hopefully I'll improve like I did last semester.

Concert Music - We have to attend 15 concerts this semester...if only it was that simple.

Drugs and Society - I've heard it's an easy A so I'm taking it.

Should be an ass-kicking semester. (not kick-ass)

Got back from camping Sunday.

First I went to Sean's parents house. Sean's brother Brandon called me when I was heading out there. He told me he was almost at the house and then we talked for like 10 minutes. Turns out him and his sister were sitting at TCBY in Uvalde, saw my car go by and then sped after me. So as we're talking I think I see his car coming up behind me..then I see that the driver is on the phone. lol. He sped around me in the shoulder and then we raced each other to the house. We should have gotten pulled over by the cop that passed, but we were so lucky (going like 85ish)

I baked oatmeal chocolate/peanut butter chip cookies for them. They keep telling me I should open up a bakery. I love to bake, but if I were to open a bakery I would probably either lose my love for cookies or get fat as hell.

Then after eating dinner we drove out to Campwood, TX. We kind of ran about town meeting up with random people. We finally all met at the get-n-go and drove out to Roaring Springs.

The tents were already set up when we got there, which was nice. We unloaded all our stuff, including a cooler FULL of beer, and then we drank. I drank way too much. We were playing categories (or kings or whatever you call it.) and I was kicking ass until I started to get drunk...then I get even more drunk. I made up the coolest rule!! We had to say "For those who are about to rock, we salute you!" and salute before you drank. Then Sean added "ladies" to the end of that as a rule (if you've heard Demetri Martin's stand up you know exactly where we were coming from.) and then Nate added a throat gagging noise to that. So it was "For those who are about to rock, we salute you...ladies. *gag*"

After playing through the whole deck twice Sean and I decided to go back to the tent...and I was drunk, so what do YOU think happened, hu? moving on...

The next day kind of sucked. we had no set plans. Sean and my funds were very low and he wanted to use his truck as little as possible, so we spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to do. We ate at BJ's then Falcone's then BJ's again, then we drove out to Roaring Springs again. We swam for HOURS in the spring fed pool. It's about 40 feet deep and very cool and refreshing. It was amazing. All of his high school friends were there, too.

Then we got ready for the dance in Campwood. Went out there and drank a lot. I met a lot of people...I mean a lot. I was the talk of the dance, apparently. Everyone was bombarding Brandon with questions. After we were all sufficiently drunk we drove back to Roaring Springs and then drank more. We've very safe people. lol.

Then next day we drove back to Uvalde, ate lunch/dinner at the parent's house, then I drove back to SA.

now I'm broke. I have about $1 in my bank account and about $5 in cash.

I'm going to go work at an HEB on the southside today. It just opened up and they need a lot of help, so from 5 - 10 I'm just going to be doing returns. I'm kind of excited. It's an H-E-B plus! store, so it's HUUGGEEE. Should be a good workout.

I leave you with this:
